It has been an amazing winter so far filled with crisp cold days and lots of snow. And as much as I love winter, one of the pleasures of being alive in the 21st century is being able to sneak away for a few days of sun and warmth during the height of winter! And here is your perfect opportunity:
A Four Day Immersion into Yoga Philosophy and Asana
with Dr. Douglas Brooks and Jordan Bloom
March 13 – 16, 2014
The practice of yoga today in the West is by all accounts a recent phenomenon. Yet the focus on asana and wellness has a long and complex history that wends its way through the maze of Indian history and spirituality and into our lives. In this seminar we will map the origins of yoga from its most ancient resources in India and develop a clear and useful understanding of these sources, their history and practice, and find the connections to our modern practice. We have received a complex and often confusing array of traditions—from Classical Yoga to Vedanta, from Kashmir Shavism to modern interpretations. We’ll sort out these issues of history and practice, ideology and understanding with clarity, focus, and practical consideration; in the process we’ll create a rich and lucid understanding of the traditions from their earliest articulation and into our lives as western practitioners.
This is the perfect way to spend your Spring Break, stock up on your vitamin D and escape the winter freeze for a few days! But don’t wait too long…
